About
Adam Smith, LMHC
My career started out in the technology sector, working initially as a software consultant and then entering the startup world. While these positions were engaging, I always felt a nagging sense for a different vocation. I fell in love with this work after volunteering with a nonprofit that served grieving families and this set my path to pursue a future in mental health.
I received a masters in Mental Health Counseling and worked in a group private practice for 6 years before launching Smith Counseling Services in 2023.
In therapy, I create a collaborative environment that values authenticity. I work from an integrative framework with interventions and methodology from different evidence-based practices including existentialism, cognitive-behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, Gottman couples therapy, trauma-informed care including EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing), and feedback-informed treatment.
I most commonly work with adults, couples, and teenagers. Areas of specialty include depression, anxiety, relationship concerns, traumatic incidents, sense of purpose, faith & spirituality, and fertility-related issues.
Outside of session, I remain a bit of a computer nerd whose drum and guitar hobbies will never leave the garage.
